Export To Excel error “SaveAs method of Workbook class failed” or “Open Method of Workbook Class Failed” in FDM

Symptoms
When trying to export to Excel an error is returned:
“Error: SaveAs method of Workbook class failed”

Cause
Known issue noted in the FDM ReadMe documentation was not implemented or implemented correctly.

Solution
Follow the steps outlined for Excel 2003/2007 and Windows 2008 as noted in the “Known Issues” section of the FDM ReadMe.pdf

When using Windows 2008 server x64, create the following directory to enable Excel importing and exporting:
      \Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\Desktop
When using Windows 2008 server x86, create the following directory to enable Excel importing and exporting:
      \Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Desktop


Important:
Lastly, bring up the Task Manager on all FDM Application Servers and end any hung Excel.exe processes.
