Goal

How to find out which ESSSVR process corresponds to which application process on a Windows server.

Solution

To find out which ESSSVR process corresponds to which application process, do the following:

1. Open the Windows Task Manager Processes tab.
2. Locate the ESSSVR.exe process.
3. Record the Process ID from the PID column for the corresponding ESSSVR.exe process:

4. The same PID is recorded in the Essbase server log, when the application starts:

[Fri Nov 11 11:04:25 2011]Local/ESSBASE0///3108/Info(1054027) Application [Demo] started with process id [6184]

    To ease your ;ive, here is more detailed Windows command that you can use:
    CMD>>type C:\Hyperion\logs\essbase\ESSBASE.LOG | find /I “started with process ID” | find /I “[demo]”
    * replace “demo” by your Essbase application name
    Note: “find /I” – filter ESSBASE.LOG file (/I – Ignores the case of characters when searching for the string)
