Smart View Refresh in Spreadsheets With Thousand HSGETVALUE Functions Are Taking Longer to Complete When the Essbase Studio Service is Turned On. (Doc ID 1326789.1)

Symptoms
Smart View refreshes on spreadsheets with several thousand HSGETVALUE functions are taking 8x longer to complete when the Essbase Studio service is turned on.

Cause
This issue has been verified as unpublished Bug 10382608: Every HSGETVALUE is causing a round trip to the Studio Server.

Solution
To resolve this issue:

1. Apply Patch:11737613 Analytic Provider Service v11.1.1.3.500.

2. Set the following registry settings on the Server/Client to allow more ports to be opened to refresh the clients workbook:

a) Open the Registry
b) Navigate to Local Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP\Parameters.
c) Add new DWORD Value named TcpTimedWaitDelay, right click and select Modify. Select decimal radio button, type in 30. (The default value of this parameter is 2 minutes. This is how long it will take for a TCP/IP port that was used by the network for a connection to be released and made available again. 30 sec is the minimum allowed by Microsoft)
d) Add new DWORD Value named MaxUserPort, right click and select Modify. Select decimal radio button, type in 65534. (The default value is 5000. This determines the highest port number TCP can assign when an application requests an available user port from the system.)
e) Reboot the Server/Client system.

3. If the patch cannot be applied, a workaround is to shutdown the Essbase Studio Server.
