Error: “GSM_UnableToAcquireLSM” in Workspace Login Attempt (Doc ID 972613.1)

Symptoms
Users cannot log into Workspace. The following error is raised in a pop-up window: “GSM_UnableToAcquireLSM”.

Cause
The problem may be that the V8_SERVICEAGENT table of the BI+ schema is empty or corrupted.

The RM1, NS1, ES1 and SB1 properties are defined in the V8_SERVICEAGENT table. If the table is corrupted or empty the Core Services will fail to start.

Solution
The Core Services startup issue was due to the fact that the Workspace agent was not connected to the proper database schema.

The valid V8_SERVICEAGENT table was not in the same schema. Consequently we used the configuration utility to reconnect to the proper BI+ schema (reuse option). Restarted the services and could then log into Workspace.
